Tom Glanfield, CEO

Tom Glanfield is the founder and CEO of LHi Group, an international multi-brand company comprising of three non-competing niche recruitment brands and a specialist job board.

An Entrepreneur

From humble beginnings in a South West London apartment, Tom created his first company, Lawrence Harvey Group, in 2002 from a £9k graduate loan and less than a years’ recruitment experience. Lawrence Harvey went on to become a Sunday Times Top 100 Best Company to work for and was listed in the Sunday Times Fasttrack 100 . With no outside investment, Tom successfully built what has become a high performing, inclusive, powerful business culture within Lawrence Harvey and the rest of the Group.
Tom has an overriding belief in developing talent internally; cultivating success by providing award winning training and state of the art facilities for individuals to achieve their personal and business goals. Tom’s expansion in to new sectors and geographical territories has seen him awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by Recruitment International and invited to be a judge on the next season of hit U.S docufilm ‘Top Recruiter’.

A family man

Tom is a proud father to two sons Felix and Ollie. Originally from Devon, Tom comes from a sport focused family, his brother is Olympic medalist Joe Glanfield, and his love for surfing, sailing and the open water is a welcome retreat from his busy life in Central London.

“I never thought of myself as a leader and certainly never thought I’d be called an entrepreneur.

All I did know was that I wanted to achieve something great with my first business Lawrence Harvey
and I would do whatever it took to reach my goals.

I set up Lawrence Harvey in 2002 with a graduate loan and the goal of becoming one of the leading recruitment brands across the UK . I knew recruitment was the only business I wanted to be in, it was risky, but I was ambitious and I wanted to create a company that was not only focused on delivering outstanding results to customers but was also a creative and inclusive place to work. Just as I had created the opportunity for myself, I wanted to encourage people to work differently and give them the flexibility to do so, embracing their own entrepreneurial spirits.
My dream was to have a business that stood out from the crowd, had a leading market reputation, was the agency that clients and candidates could trust to always do what we say we will, and to do it with both professionalism and personality.

Now, over a decade later LHi Group stands at over 100 employees, 4 specialist brands, multi sector coverage and international offices… and we’re growing every day!

Sometimes I wonder how we have managed to grow so monumentally from my one-man-band in that little attic room in South London, but then I remember all the blood, sweat and tears that went in to achieving success and I feel proud of myself and my team.

Have I reached my goal? No.

There’s always a bigger fish to catch, a higher mountain to climb – the most important thing is making sure you’re moving forward and always growing.”
